1. Contact the Englewood Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) Office, 941-473-9795 or email at englewood@scgov.net to see if the date you are looking for is available.
2. Obtain an Application for Proposed Event in Pioneer Plaza.
3. Fill it out and return the application to the CRA Office (370 W. Dearborn Street, Suite D). It can be hand carried or emailed to englewood@scgov.net.
4. Once received, CRA staff will distribute the application to the Event Committee members and a meeting will be called to review the application. You may be contacted if there are questions.
5. If approval is recommended, the application will be scheduled for the next available Englewood CRA Advisory Board.
6. If the CRA Advisory Board grants use of the property, you will be responsible for filing a Temporary Use Permit (TUP) with Sarasota County Government.
This permit must be filed no later than 30 days prior to the event. In order to meet that deadline, you application for use of the Plaza should be filed no later than 90 days prior to the event.
CRA staff will provide you with the permit application. Once completed, meet with CRA staff for review prior to submitting to the Building Department at R. L. Anderson Building in S. Venice. A fee of $140.00 will be required at filing. There will also be a $50.00 fee for the Health Department review.
7. When filing, obtain the permit number so you can follow it along through the approval process.
8. If alcohol is being sold/provided, you will be required to file for the required alcohol permit and to provide a copy to the CRA Office prior to the event.
9. If your event requires closure of a street, then you must obtain signatures from property owners abutting the closed area. You will also be required to obtain a Right-of-Way Use Permit from Sarasota County, Building and Public Works Departments. Forms can be
obtained from the CRA Office. There is a $90.00 fee for road closures.
10. If your event has firework displays, a Pyrotechnic Permit must be filed with Sarasota County Emergency Services. The CRA Office can provide those forms for you to file.
11. Once all permits are approved/obtained a date and time will be set for you to meet with an event committee member to walk the property and identify any issues prior to your event.
12. At the end of the walk through you will sign the agreement to leave the property in the same condition as you received it.
13. You are responsible for any trash/debris from your event. If you do not bring a dumpster for the day of the event, you are required to pack it out at the end.
14. At the conclusion of your event, another walk through will be conducted with the event committee member to confirm the site is in the same condition as when you received it. If not, you will be required to take any necessary corrective action.
15. No later than two weeks after your event a post event report must be provided to the CRA Office for inclusion on the next available CRA Advisory Board meeting agenda.
It is not required but could be helpful if a member of your organization attends the CRA Advisory Board meeting in case there are questions
